As of today, 29 states have introduced some version of the Healthy Workplace Bill, designed to eliminate this toxic behavior. North Carolina law mandates your employer give you at least four (4) hours of leave to be involved at your child's school or attend a school function. Punishing you for doing so could even support claims for retaliation or wrongful termination and you could be entitled at minimum to reinstatement and lost wages or benefits.
